(PNS reporting from MARICOPA COUNTY) In a breaking development on a story first reported by POCHO in 2012, packs of wild Chihuahuas have taken over and are terrorizing a small town in Maricopa County, AZ.
The roving bands of pint-sized pooches have residents mortified, primarily because locals are afraid of anything remotely Mexican. Officials agree that the dogs’ bark is worse than their bite, however, there is one factor that has locals up in arms about this mini “ruff-conquista.”
“They’re cute, but there’s no way to get around the fact that they are Mexican,” said Maricopa Animal Control Officer Mara Nita. “They breed faster, they travel in gangs and we’ve even found some organizing larger dogs.”
Nita says Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio has added a special requirement to address the undocumented Chihuahua problem.
“When we catch them, we’re required to put them in small pink prisoner outfits and parade them through downtown,” she says.
Arizona’s Fox News 10 has been covering the story non-stop for the past three days, and many believe this is just a diversion to draw attention away from the $38 million in lawsuits against Sheriff Arpaio and the fact that Jan Brewer is still Governor.
