Can Gustavo ¡Ask A Mexican! Arellano finish OC’s hottest burger? (video)

Can intrepid POCHO Associate Naranjero Gustavo ¡Ask A Mexican! Arellano and OC Weekly colleague Nick Schou make it through the Nuke Burger, said to be the hottest/spiciest hamburger in Orange County?

How spicy is it? The OC Weekly’s Charles Lam reports:

The Nuke Burger [at Bombburger in Huntington Beach] is quite possibly the spiciest burger in Orange County at the moment, featuring a who’s who’s list of hottest peppers in the world (Scorpion and Reaper for you pepper heads, as well as Ghost Pepper Jack Cheese).

Close Up Magic: The ‘Mexican’ Paper Tear (video)

The Leipzig Torn And Restored Paper Effect is a classic routine for sleight-of-hand parlor magicians. In this new video, Scott Alexander presents the prestidigitation trick “Mexican” estyle, which involves a bad bigote, a sombrero, and is that a zerape? K tricky, no? These magic papeles are for sale — only with a magician’s recommendation, of course — but if you buy them, ask the company to make the stereotypes disappear, OK?

Unseen for half a century: Frida Kahlo’s wardrobe (photos, video)

tehuana_dresssqSelected photos of Frida Kahlo’s wardrobe – locked away for half a century – will go on exhibit in London next week.

fridaydiegoaskidsDangerous Minds reports:

After Kahlo’s death in 1954, her husband Diego Rivera shut her belongings in a bathroom at their Mexico City home, the Blue House, [video, below] the marvelous house they shared—and then insisted that it be locked up until 15 years after his death (which, in the event, happened in 1957).

In fact, the room wasn’t opened until 2004, when Ishiuchi Miyako was given permission to photograph its intimate contents.

The photographs will be on display at the Michael Hoppen Gallery in London from May 14 through July 12.

Los Mariachi: A song for ‘Señorita’ (#TBT music video)

losmariachisenoritaThis relatively unknown 2011 (or 2013?) video from Mexican rockers Los Mariachi just re-appeared on Vimeo with much better video and audio than the YouTube original and we’re glad it did. Señorita features the band’s awesome sweet Mexican metal – they got the action, they got the motion, yeah, the boys can play! That’s Ian Alvarez on soulful vocals, Carlos Casquejo shredding on the guitar, Ruben Balagot pumping it out on bass, Eddie Perez playing lyrical keyboards, and JamJam Emmanuel hitting hard on drums. Firme rock!

Breaking the Ñews: Massive immigration caused California drought

droughtfamilyWhere has all the water gone?

Screw your liberal “climate change” answer that’s really a code word so-called “progressives” use to steal from people who work for a living instead of sucking Obamacare’s socialist welfare titties.

Where has all of California’s water gone?

It’s the immigrants, stupid!

Victor David Hanson reports for the National Review:

Taco Tuesday + Cinco de Mayo = Drunk Tacos + Fresh Guac!

drunktacosHow many times does Cinco de Mayo also fall on Taco Tuesday? Our guess is 14% of the time or 1/7th but math is hard, amiright?

But the odds are with us today (the Fourth Was With Us yesterday, and with you) so let’s get loqui with two of our favorite thematically-appropriate videos — Tacos by My Drunk Kitchen and Fresh Guacamole. Are you ready? Remember, kids don’t try these at home!

WAR (the original band): ‘Cinco de Mayo’ (1981 complete)

warcincoThis 1981 single from WAR was the first time many non-Latinos heard of Cinco de Mayo. This photo shows the original guys at the Sunset Grill (7439 Sunset, next to their offices (Far Out Productions) at 7417 Sunset. The Guitar Center swallowed up 7417 a while back.

L-R: Charles Miller (sax, RIP), Lonnie Jordan (keyboards, the only original member in the new so-called WAR), Howard Scott (guitar, Lowrider Band), Harold Brown (drums, Lowrider Band), BB Dickerson (bass, Lowrider Band), Lee Oskar (harmonica, Lowrider Band). Not pictured, Papa Dee (RIP, percussion).

[DISCLOSURE: I was WAR’s National Director of Album Promotion for a while and ate so often at the Sunset Grill (like in the Eagles song) I had credit.]

Puebla, MX narco cartel killers crush French gang invaders

Federales clean up bodies after cartel Battle of Puebla

(PNS reporting from PUEBLA, MX) Federales have finished cleaning up the streets of this southeastern city after a three-day battle between area gangsters and a French gang left 83 locals and 462 gabachos dead, PNS has learned.

The  Marseilles gang (“La Eme”) — sent to collect a drug debt allegedly owed by the Puebla-based Ignacio Zaragosa clika (the “Zetas”) — was overwhelmed by the fierce Mexican gangbangers.

Faulty HUMINT (human intelligence) was also a factor.

Based on bogus tips from informants who called themselves “los mentirosos,” which La Eme interpreted as “mentors,” the frogs engaged the enemy at noon. La Eme expected the Zeta sentries to be taking siestas with their sombreros pulled so low they couldn’t see the advancing gunmen. And the close-by burros? The French plan relied on the overhwhelming odor of naturally estanky donkeys to mask the telltale scent of French breath-de-fromage.

But the Zetas were not asleep and those weren’t your mother’s burritos.

Happy May Day from the Workers of the World (music video, lyrics)

maydaybigEnjoy the Internacional, the world-wide (Get it? It’s international!) anthem of those red commie cabrones in Cuba and Venezuela and China and North Korea (and lurking in secretive cells everywhere else but the lamestream media sheeple won’t tell you that).

Tomorrow, May 1, is May Day AKA International Workers’ Day, when the communist comrades sing this stirring appeal, with its hummable melody and a vague vision of a better future that’s hard to disagree with, except maybe the LUCHA FINAL aspect.

Beetles with rhinestones are the living jewelry of Mexico (videos)

Bugs. Bugs with backpacks of rhinestones. Bugs with backpacks of rhinestones on gold-plated chains. Bugs with backpacks of rhinestones on gold-plated chains you wear as jewelry. Does Mexican PETA know about this?

“Meet the Makech, the Bedazzled Beetles Worn as Living Jewelry,” writes The Smithsonian.com. “The unusual bugs from the Yucatán have a backstory as colorful as their rhinestone-studded rumps.”

Dance along with The 1491s: ‘I’m an Indian, too!’ (music video)

indiantooIf you’ve got to dance to keep from cryin’ — well then, dance to I’m an Indian, too! by the 1491s.  All the kool kids are doing it!

Careful listeners will note actual Native Americans cracking jokes with stereotypical Indian names like “Running Nose,” the same jokes that offended the sensitive extras on Adam Sandler’s Ridiculous Six movie set.
