I photograph the rides and sometimes their owners standing beside them. I started off using the camera on my Samsung phone but it’s 3.15 megapixels proved to fall way short when I decided to try to print the images.
Compliments from friends family and Instagram followers convinced me it was time to upgrade to a real camera and take my hobby to the next level.
I began dragging my wife and kids to as many car shows as I could find and then getting home, going through the camera roll to see that day’s catch.
My good friend Santino Rivera approached me a while back with the idea of working on a book together. If you’re familiar with his last book, ¡Ban This!, you know the talent he attracted and how big of a deal this is.This book will feature my photography with poetry, shorts stories and essays on lowrider culture submitted by anyone interested.
My moniker on Twitter and Instagram is @Chicano_Soul so we liked the idea of including that somehow into the title.
The working title right now for the book is Lowriting: Shots, Rides and Stories from The Chicano Soul.
Big names have already agreed to submit so email Santino with only your best writing for your chance to get in on this book.
My wife has been real supportive of my car photography hobby. She’s been calling local galleries to display my work and has opened an Etsy shop to sell my prints.
We received an order in the first 30 minutes the shop was open and we were both stoked about that.
If you’re into lowriders like I am and would like to check out my photos, please visit my Etsy shop.
