In December 1950, Woody Guthrie moved into the Beach Haven Apartments in Brooklyn. His landlord was Fred Trump, father of Donald. Trump’s greed and racism inspired Guthrie to write Old Man Trump.
Ryan Harvey updated that song, and made this video with Ani DiFranco and Tom Morello (RATM).
Here are the lyrics:
WBAI (NYC) DJ Jay Smooth analyzes the Donald Sterling tape chingadera and wonders why adjudicated racist Sterling needed to get caught saying something before people got pissed. East Los homeboy Sterling has been an evil guy for years. And what about the the girlfriend?
PREVIOUSLY ON DONALD STERLING:
Here are the Pocho ocho signs that you’re renting:
8. Your towel rack is broken for weeks at a time and you have to hang your towel on the front stoop, which “brings down property values” but doesn’t lower your rent.
7. You can hear cats having sex on every side of your apartment complex in the middle of the night.
6. Toilets, showers and sinks occasionally overflow with water that smells funny.
