The Selena Museum in Corpus Christi is a shrine to the famed singer Selena, the pride of Tejas.

In the democratic socialist paradise of Denmark, possibly in Copenhagen aka København, the Mexican Donkey food truck serves up “Mexican sandwiches.” After that, we’re not sure about anything. Pre-fried hard tortillas for tacos? Bread that looks like English muffins? Not a chile or sprig of cilantro to be found? Where’s the beef? Is that a machaca, queso, cebolla, frijoles and mayonnaise torta? And if this is the Burro Mexicano truck, where are the pinche burritos?

It’s not easy being … a Mexican man in Texas, as Zachary Caballero explains to the WANPoetry slam.
WANPoetry (Write About Now) is a community-oriented collective of poets that meet at Avantgarden in Houston, Texas every Wednesday at 7:30 PM with the purpose of providing a platform for poets to share their work.
In Texas they call this tortilla soup. If it was more brothy, you might call it caldo de pollo. Either way, it’s Mexican Jewish penicillin and mijo you’ll feel much better after you enjoy a nice warm bowl of chicken soup.
Nothing like a cool refreshing cerveza on a hot dusty desert day. El Mexican gets all that, and more.
Aside from not sailing to “India,” Christopher Columbus got many other things wrong:
8. He forgot the extra pair of chonies his abuela packed for him.
7. He named all of his ships after cholas, but forgot La Sad Girl.
